Environmental, Social, and Governance
At NETGEAR, we are committed to the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility throughout our entire global business. In our mission to build the future of connectivity, we endeavor to ensure that the only influences we have on the world around us are positive.
We hold ourselves to rigorous ethical standards and we work to build a social presence that helps all people around the world thrive; an environmental footprint that protects our planet and promotes sustainable practices; and a governance framework that holds all aspects of our business to the highest standards.
NETGEAR pledges to provide customers with high quality products that are environmentally sound and to conduct our operations in an environmentally responsible manner. We are committed to complying with local laws and regulations in the jurisdictions in which we operate, and plan for the recycle, reuse, or reclamation of our products and packaging. This principle is a driving force at NETGEAR and is deeply ingrained in our values. As electronic waste continues to grow, NETGEAR is responding by reducing or eliminating hazardous materials in our products and by helping to protect the health and safety of our employees, our customers, and the environment.
NETGEAR provides our customers with high-quality products that comply with regulatory standards and policies. Every NETGEAR product goes through rigorous testing and certification processes in every aspect of regulatory compliance, including but not limited to electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC), safety, wireless, and telecom. NETGEAR follows applicable laws, directives, standards, and industry regulations. Products are accordingly marked and in compliance with, but not limited to, Federal Communication Commission (FCC) standards, European Union Directives (CE Mark), Japan’s VCCI, Australia’s RCM and other international requirements. Certificates, test reports and declarations of conformity are recorded and are available upon request.
NETGEAR is deeply concerned that conflict minerals originating from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or adjoining countries are sometimes mined and sold by armed groups to finance extreme levels of violence. These minerals can make their way into the supply chains of the products used around the world, including those in the electronics industry. It is NETGEAR’s goal to use tantalum, tin, tungsten, and gold (3TG) in our products that do not directly or indirectly finance or benefit armed groups in the DRC or adjoining countries while continuing to support responsible mineral sourcing in the region.
In 2014, NETGEAR published our first sustainability report, which encompasses our annual performance, greenhouse gas emissions, and reduction projects. This document, released annually, represents NETGEAR’s commitment to all stakeholders. NETGEAR continues to improve its sustainability program since its inception in 2013 with a goal to reduce energy, water use and waste throughout our supply chain.

Every day, millions of people around the world rely on NETGEAR products. We take our responsibility to our customers, our employees, and our partners seriously. We define corporate responsibility as a promise to conduct business with the highest regard for the lives of our stakeholders and the greater global community. We constantly monitor and improve our practices and their impacts to ensure that we only yield a positive effect on the world around us. We recognize the ways in which global, social, and environmental factors are pushing businesses to re-examine and reinvent the ways we work. NETGEAR continues to grow and evolve our business practices for the better, committing ourselves to leading the industry in responsible human rights, community, environmental, and governance practice.
Labor with Dignity
NETGEAR promotes equitable, humane treatment within our business and that of our partners. We work with our employees and suppliers closely to resolve any concerns regarding recruitment, working hours, compensation, discrimination, and freedom of association, hence ensuring a respectful working environment internally and externally. Additionally, NETGEAR maintains a zero-tolerance policy for forced labor and human trafficking. In an effort to support the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 (SB657), the UK Modern Slavery Act of 2015, and to confront slavery, NETGEAR is assessing risk related to our supply chain and our direct commercial suppliers and is evaluating suppliers’ compliance with the NETGEAR Supplier Code of Conduct via periodic audits.
Health and Safety
The health and safety of our employees is critical to our success and thus one of our top priorities. NETGEAR frequently monitors workplace cleanliness and safety in an effort to promote hygiene and minimize injuries. Our Corporate Emergency Response Team and Business Continuity Program equip employees with essential knowledge and supplies in case of emergencies. We periodically examine various Health and Safety aspects such as:
- Safe and clean workplaces
- Emergency preparedness
- Injury and illness
- Industrial hygiene
- Machine safeguarding
We are also dedicated to maintaining updated safety guidelines for all of our products. Health and safety are covered under our Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) guided audit program and corporate facilities.
Without an effective and efficient management system, we would not be able to optimize the value of the Corporate Social Responsibility Program and fulfill our responsibility as a loyal global citizen. Mirroring the RBA Code of Conduct, our guided audit program includes regular reviews of management systems in Ethics, Labor and Environment, and Health & Safety to help establish an organized framework for identifying, evaluating and remediating issues as they arise.
Additionally, NETGEAR and its manufacturing partners are committed to meeting or exceeding all ISO Standards. All NETGEAR manufacturing partners are ISO9001 and/or ISO14001 certified.
Management Systems are covered under our RBA guided audit program.
Diversity and Inclusion
At NETGEAR, diversity, equity, and inclusion have always been central to our mission and values. We strive to create the most innovative products for our customers, and we recognize that it takes true diversity and inclusion to unleash the power of our fullest potential. As a truly global enterprise, we work every day to go beyond accepting diversity—we celebrate it, we support it, and we cultivate it by offering ongoing development programs, including CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion and Employee Resource Groups (ERG) for black employees and women.
Every day, we strive to earn the trust of our customers, employees, and communities by maintaining the highest standards of privacy, security and data protection. At NETGEAR, we take a cross-functional approach to privacy governance to ensure that when using our networking products and services, we keep your valuable data secure. Our privacy policies cover all business areas and include customer, partner, employee data and website privacy.
NETGEAR appreciates the trust that you place in us when you use our products, apps, and services. We value your network security and prioritize making our products as secure as possible. Software and networking devices are complex, and security vulnerabilities are inevitable, but we have a robust system to address them.
NETGEAR employs a dedicated product security team that tracks vulnerability reports, innovates mitigations, and implements best practices to harden our products. The NETGEAR Board of Directors includes a cybersecurity committee that reviews the work being done by employees, along with partner audits for compliance with internal policies and relevant regulations. We hire researchers who look for vulnerabilities and reward independent researchers when they find weaknesses through our Bug Bounty and Kudos programs.
NETGEAR and our hardware and software partners take product security seriously. We’re committed to providing the continuous monitoring and upgrades required in the ever-changing landscape of cybersecurity.
At NETGEAR, we pride ourselves in conducting business at a high standard of ethical and social responsibility. Our Code of Ethics serves as the foundation for our corporate governance policy and guides how we conduct business every day, both internally and with our partners.
As a member of the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), formerly known as Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC), NETGEAR fully supports its vision and goals. We endorse the RBA Code of Conduct and incorporate RBA standards into the NETGEAR Corporate Supplier Code of Conduct. Our corporate social responsibility program includes various initiatives and monitoring activities that reinforce our commitment as a responsible global citizen. NETGEAR conducts regular risk assessments and audits on significant third-party manufacturing locations at least once a year, which we target to cover no less than 80% of our total production. Results from audits are shared with suppliers, and supplier corrective action requests, if needed, are subsequently monitored during Quarterly Business Reviews, led by the Operations Department.
