ARLO UNVEILS AI AND VIDEO ANALYTICS TO PROVIDE MORE RELEVANT, PERSONALIZED NOTIFICATIONS FOR ARLO SMART HOME SECURITY

Add localized emergency calling options and extended recording capabilities with new Premier and Elite service plans

SAN JOSE, California — June 7th, 2018NETGEAR®, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTGR), the worldwide leader in home networking and smart home security products, announced today new service plans from the Arlo ® family of smart cameras. Dedicated to implementing superior safeguarding, the new Arlo Smart service plans utilize intelligent algorithms and smart analytics to offer advanced personalization to ensure the swift delivery of meaningful notifications. The new service plans extend the availability of video recordings up to 60 days and are capable of alerting local first responders via e911 Emergency Call Service from any location 1 .

“Arlo cameras are already packed with innovative technologies, but the more intelligence we integrate through AI analytics, the more convenience the system offers to our users,” said Pat Collins, senior vice president of Arlo products at NETGEAR. “The new Arlo Smart service plans provide our users with additional features that expand the capabilities of the system in a way that best fit each user’s lifestyle. From intelligently learning about notification preferences to reducing ‘false positive’ alerts and even making it more convenient to contact first responders when it matters most, the new Arlo Smart service plans were designed with personalized safeguarding at the forefront.”

The new Arlo Smart service plans ensure that users only get the alerts that matter most. Using advanced algorithms, Arlo cameras can learn to understand what they see, reducing the number of false notifications from normal everyday movement. Smart features such as Person Detection and Cloud Activity Zones allow users to define motion zones and personalize alerts while filtering out false notifications like the neighbor’s cat running along the fence or trees swaying in the wind. The Rich Notifications feature enables users to see what Arlo sees, right from your smartphone lock screen, eliminating the need to launch the app to view videos from alerts.

In addition to features like Person Detection, Cloud Activity Zones and Rich Notifications, the Arlo Smart Premier and Arlo Smart Elite service plans also enable users to quickly handle emergencies from anywhere. A first for a smart home security system, the new service plans provide a e911 Emergency Call Service, which puts the user in direct touch with first responders local to the camera’s location1. No matter where the user is calling from, emergencies can be addressed even while the user is miles away, without being redirected and increasing response times.

“The smart home market has become an overly crowded and complex space with so many different vendors providing different products and apps,” said David Reinsel, senior vice president at IDC. “With Arlo Smart, NETGEAR brings a level of unification across its suite of smart home security solutions by providing a service that streamlines all its devices for a seamless consumer experience.”

Arlo Smart Home HD Security Cameras offer brilliant HD video quality, two-way audio, live streaming, free cloud recording, instant alerts, and other smart features to enable users to keep watch over property and loved ones, indoors and out, day and night. Arlo Smart service plans are compatible with every Arlo camera and start at just $2.99 per camera per month, or $9.99 per month for up to 10 cameras. Existing subscribers of the Premier and Elite service plans will automatically be transferred to the Arlo Smart Premier plan and Arlo Smart Elite plan, respectively. In order to enable customers to experience the new features for themselves, a one-month free trial of the Arlo Smart Premier plan will be offered to new subscribers.

  • Arlo Smart — $2.99 per month per camera

All Arlo cameras come with an included Basic plan offering access to motion-and audio-triggered recordings from the past seven days, for up to five cameras. With the introduction of Arlo Smart, users can now add on smart features such as Person Detection, Cloud Activity Zones, and Rich Notifications on a per camera basis for a small monthly fee.

  • Arlo Smart Premier — $9.99 per month

The Arlo Smart Premier plan offers Arlo Smart features for up to 10 cameras and extends cloud recordings for a full 30 days. For extra peace of mind, U.S. customers will also get access to e911 emergency call service.

  • Arlo Smart Elite — $14.99 per month
