CITYCABLE SELECTS NETGEAR 24x8 DOCSIS 3.0 GATEWAY FOR CUSTOMER DEPLOYMENT

NETGEAR C6300T cable gateway powers CityCable subscriber data services with ultra-fast AC1750 speeds

AMSTERDAM — Sept 12, 2014 — NETGEAR®, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTGR) (www.netgear.com), a global networking company that delivers innovative products to service providers, consumers, and businesses, and CityCable, one of the largest Internet service providers covering Lausanne, Switzerland, and its 13 surrounding municipalities, announced that CityCable has selected the NETGEAR DOCSIS® 3.0 AC1750 Cable Voice and Data Gateway (C6300T) to be among the first to offer gigabit-capable data services over DOCSIS 3.0 in Switzerland. The new C6300T gateway supports 24x8 DOCSIS 3.0 channel bonding and touts superior WiFi performance with next-generation, dual-band AC1750 WiFi (450+1300 Mbps*).

The C6300T combines two analog voice lines, a four-port Gigabit router, and a simultaneous dual-band wireless access point into a single device capable of supporting both home and small office applications. It offers the ultimate mobility for WiFi devices with incredibly fast AC1750 speeds—up to three times faster than 802.11n. Compatible with next-generation WiFi devices and backward compatible with 802.11 a/b/g/n devices, CityCable subscribers can experience reliable, ultra-fast HD video and music streaming, and non-stop gaming with minimized interruptions and buffering throughout the home.

“The advanced capabilities of the NETGEAR C6300T offers CityCable subscribers a high-end gateway user experience with top speeds, a focus on ease-of-use, and a reliable connection that will enable them to do more with their wired and wireless broadband connection—from multiple devices in simultaneous use and at better range,” said Sridhar Gollapudi, vice president of product marketing for the Service Provider Business Unit at NETGEAR. ”For CityCable, the C6300T will bring the added benefits of service-provider optimized functionalities that can help reduce technical support calls and help with subscriber stickiness by enhancing the overall user experience.”

The NETGEAR C6300T offers full support for a variety of voice codecs, including HD Voice support, as well as multiple call signaling methods—NCS, Legacy SIP, and PacketCable™ 2.0 IMS. The C6300T also includes built-in enhanced support tools designed to create a more efficient customer support environment, including TR-069 (TR181), SNMP and hotspot/WiFi offload support using GRE tunneling capabilities.

“Our subscribers are looking for a consistently reliable, fast WiFi connection that can allow them to use all of their WiFi devices, including the newest 802.11ac smartphones, from anywhere in their home. The NETGEAR C6300T can allow them to do that,” said Jonathan Martin, IP Systems manager for CityCable. “AC1750 speeds mean our subscribers can watch, stream, surf or game when they want, from wherever they want, within their home. We’re looking forward to rolling out the NETGEAR C6300T gateway and giving our subscribers the latest WiFi technology.”

The C6300T also comes equipped with a host of other helpful end-user features including NETGEAR genie® application, ReadySHARE® USB, DLNA® and Push ‘N’ Connect. NETGEAR genie gives CityCable subscribers the ability to manage their home network in a simple-to-use interface. It also enables subscribers to monitor, control and repair their home network system from their desktop computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet, and makes parental controls and guest networks a breeze. ReadySHARE USB turns any connected USB hard drive that is plugged into one of the two USB 2.0 ports on the router into a shared drive, making file sharing and automatic back-ups a simple task. DLNA gives CityCable subscribers the power to share personal media content with their television from their WiFi, DLNA-enabled devices. Push ‘N’ Connect enables easy, one button secure set-up with WPS technology.
