NETGEAR READYNAS RR2312 – INDUSTRY-FIRST 1U 12-BAY HIGH DENSITY NETWORK STORAGE FOR SMALL AND MEDIUM BUSINESSES

Unique, hybrid solution combines on-premises backup with the Cloud in highest-density 1U rackmount form factor for flexible, seamless and uninterrupted storage expansion

SAN JOSE, California — Sept. 19, 2017NETGEAR®, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTGR), a leading provider of networking equipment, is introducing NETGEAR ReadyNAS® 1U 12-bay High Density Rackmount Network Attached Storage (RR2312) solution for Small and Medium Size Businesses (SMBs). ReadyNAS 2312 is the industry’s first 12-bay NAS in a 1U form factor, a design that represents the highest density storage solution in the market. ReadyNAS 2312 is ideal for data backup, file serving, archiving, cloud storage and IP-based surveillance video management and recording. It can be easily set up, monitored and managed via the new NETGEAR Insight management app for iOS or Android™ mobile devices.

The 12-bay design and four gigabit Ethernet interfaces of ReadyNAS 2312 offer high performance and data scalability, enabling a low initial investment with growth potential.

With ReadyNAS 2312, your data is protected through a hybrid backup process that offers three options:

  • A centralized computer backup works with the ReadyCLOUD® PC/Mac application to back up your data to the ReadyNAS, with hourly snapshots, making sure your data is up to date. It is easily accessible and easy to restore data fast, in case of loss or corruption.
  • The free-of-charge disaster recovery solution, ReadyDR®, protects businesses against unforeseen catastrophes by performing automated and continuous block level data backup to a secondary ReadyNAS.
  • With backup to the Cloud, ReadyNAS can sync your data to the public cloud of your choice, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon Cloud Drive, Google Drive and Dropbox.

RR2312

“The ReadyNAS 2312 is currently the market leader in dollar per terabyte ratio in network attached storage,” says Richard Jonker, vice president of SMB product management at NETGEAR, “We designed this product specifically to address the growing need for large and scalable storage capacity, with emphasis on compact dimension, data reliability, and ease of management. Our early customers have told us that this is ideal for data backup and surveillance video management, but also for cloud storage offers by managed service providers, or archiving.”

ReadyNAS 2312 is powered by a quad core high performance Intel® Atom C3000® processor with quad gigabit Ethernet network interface to support up to 40 high definition, high frame rate IP surveillance cameras, while its 12-bay storage chassis, assisted by the unique XRAID® technology from NETGEAR, enables the IT manager to add additional storage capacity seamlessly as surveillance data grows.

The high-density design of ReadyNAS 2312 is also perfectly suited for video surveillance applications. By running ONVIF-compliant software, ReadyNAS can pair with the new NETGEAR FlexPower Wire-Free IP Camera (VNC4030) and the FlexPower Base Station (VNB4000), the industry's first and only wire-free, battery-powered ONVIF®-compliant camera, to create a complete video security solution. This presents a great choice for business owners who prefer local storage over the cloud, but want the ease of indoor or outdoor installation offered by wire-free NETGEAR cameras.

ReadyNAS 2312 is based on Linux 4 enterprise-grade BTRFS file system and offers the complete set of business features of ReadyNAS OS, including virtualization support, RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, and the industry-leading data protection shared by all NETGEAR ReadyNAS products: XRAID® to protect against hard disk drive failure while maximizing drive capacity utilization; snapshot to protect against operational error; a built-in anti-virus solution; bit rot protection against media degradation; and cloud backup.
