NETGEAR Smart Switch Lite CLI Configuration
A typical small and medium business (SMB) network environment tends to manage their network infrastructures using the Local Web GUI or a Cloud Portal. Vendor specific web or cloud portals always work as designed, but it may also create a complicated environment when the customer has a multiple switch vendor infrastructure. The one likely solution to the challenge is an integrated 3rd party network management system to manage all network devices on a single pane of glass. To stay apprised with the growing change in today’s network management systems (NMS), NETGEAR provided a Lite Command-line Interface (CLI) on select NETGEAR Smart Switches to assist with the growing NMS challenges.
With the latest 6.0.10.5 firmware, NETGEAR introduced the ability to configure and manage the select Smart Switches with the command-line interface (CLI) capabilities using Secure Shell (SSH) or telnet protocols.

But what does Smart Switch CLI configuration mean for me? It means that if your 3rd party NMS requires a switch health check or PoE management - NETGEAR provides all the CLI commands that relates to switch health check or PoE management and much more. In addition, it’s not just for NMS, it can also provide the ability to configure, manage, and monitor a smart switch via the CLI and would not require the need to log onto the local web GUI or Insight cloud portal. Install the latest firmware, and be rest assured that the CLI configuration is the same configuration as the local web GUI or with the Insight cloud portal configuration.
