EU Battery Regulation
EU Battery Regulation (2023/1542)
Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 July 2023 concerning batteries and waste batteries contains several requirements specific to batteries. The Regulation affects manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment whose products containing batteries and accumulators containing Lead, Cadmium and Mercury. The Regulation places strict limits on the use of the materials and requires a symbol for separate collection of batteries (crossed out wheeled bin) to appear on label of a battery.
The Regulation requires producers (manufacturers, distributors, and sellers) to:
- Register with the Battery Regulating authority within each member state
- Ensure the waste batteries are collected separately by the Producer or the appointed Producer Responsibility Organizations.
NETGEAR Inc. is currently working with our suppliers, distributors, partners, and customers to ensure NETGEAR would comply with EU Battery Regulation.
