NETGEAR PUSHES PERFORMANCE BOUNDARIES WITH THREE POWERFUL NEW PRODUCTS FOR GROWING BUSINESSES

New chassis series with unmatched capabilities; wireless controller for higher density environments; high-performance rackmount ReadyNAS for demanding environments

SAN JOSE, Calif. — January 19, 2015 — NETGEAR®, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTGR) (www.netgear.com), a global networking company that delivers innovative products to businesses, consumers, and service providers, today announced three new products providing higher throughput and new capabilities for improved network performance in businesses and education facilities. With these new, scalable offerings for wireless access management, switching, and storage in higher-density environments, the NETGEAR commercial product portfolio offers a solution breadth, support, and price-to-performance ratio unsurpassed in the industry.

NETGEAR built the new products with high performance, flexible deployment, and ease of use in mind. They are designed to enable networks in growing and medium-sized businesses with larger campuses or branch offices, as well as mid-sized hospitality facilities, K-12 schools, university campuses, and growing medical complexes. The new products include:

  • ProSAFE® M6100 Chassis Series: The world’s first under-$8,000 all-in-one chassis offers the densest Gigabit and 10G port solution in a 4U footprint. It’s a fully distributed fabric, passive backplane solution with full management and power redundancy.
  • ProSAFE WC9500 Premium Wireless Controller: This high-performance controller supports the complete range of NETGEAR business-grade ProSAFE Managed Access Points. It’s a scalable, centralized solution for dense environments, supporting up to 200 access points per controller in a stacked arrangement.
  • ReadyNAS® 3130 Series Network Attached Storage: With a 1U form factor for easy rack deployment in businesses of any size, this 4-bay NAS has a capacity up to 24 TB. Its powerful processor supports up to 200 simultaneous users and is especially suitable for virtualized environments.

“Businesses, hospitality sites and education facilities are looking for networking solutions that offer the ability to scale as the company grows, without taking a hit in performance. When they need to add more users or connect more access points or support a new branch office, network managers want solutions that can support denser deployments and possible future applications and devices,” said Peter Newton, senior director of product management for NETGEAR’s Commercial Business Unit.

He added, “With these needs in mind, we’ve set new chassis performance standards with our new M6100 Chassis Series. Our WC9500 Premium Controller supports even larger deployments in stackable scenarios, as does the ReadyNAS 3130 with its more powerful CPU. With all three products, we’re delivering capabilities to meet today’s business needs as well as those of tomorrow. They simply can’t be matched for overall value in their market category.”

ProSAFE M6100 Chassis Series

The new ProSAFE M6100 Chassis Series (www.netgear.com/m6100) is a high-density chassis alternative to stackable switches for businesses. It’s an affordable and uniquely flexible chassis platform that enables high performance, highly resilient, fully redundant and future-ready switched networks from the Core to the Edge — without hurting or exhausting IT budgets.

"The M6100 Series has enabled us to consolidate our switched network to deliver bandwidth and management efficiencies, while concurrently improving our overall redundant footprint for the core parts of our network,” said Gary Girolimon, the IT director for the Goffstown School District in Goffstown, New Hampshire.

The M6100 Chassis Series comprises Gigabit access layer and 10 Gigabit distribution layer switches in a 4U footprint. With more than 1.4 Tbps switching and routing capacity, passive backplane, full management and fabric nonstop forwarding redundancy, the M6100 Series delivers world-class resiliency and scalability. Its operating software and system management features take the complexity out of delivering L2/L3/L4-rich services for enterprise edge and SMB core deployments. UPOE capability extends its potential and delivers true investment protection to leverage today’s and tomorrow’s evolving powered devices.

The M6100 Series is designed for use at the center of a small to mid-sized organization network, or as an aggregated or access solution in a larger campus or mid-sized enterprise branch network. For those who require a resilient Gigabit connectivity to the desktop or 10G for virtualized server and storage needs, the M6100 provides the market’s fastest backplane speeds with hitless failover to deliver enterprise-grade service level excellence.

The M6100 Chassis Series offers multiple port combinations to suit diverse needs, with up to 144-port Gigabit or 72-port 10 Gigabit ports. NETGEAR is offering a cost-effective ProSAFE M6100 Starter Kit (XCM8903SK-10000S) comprising the essentials for a ready-made, turnkey solution:
