Background
Global Village Dubai is one of the region’s most prominent cultural and entertainment destinations, showcasing over 90 cultures through themed pavilions, live performances, attractions, and diverse dining experiences. Operating seasonally from October to April, Global Village attracts millions of visitors each year, making network reliability, scalability, and performance mission critical.
The venue functions as a hybrid of a theme park, cultural fair, and shopping destination, serving families, tourists, and local visitors in a high-density, high-traffic environment.

Business Challenges
Need for a High-Speed 10G Backbone
The existing network infrastructure was limited to 1G connectivity, which was insufficient to support the increasing demands of AV data transmission and centralized control systems. A 10G backbone was required to ensure consistent, high-performance network operations across the park.
Support for a Large Number of Endpoints
The deployment needed to support a significant number of IP-based amplifiers, speakers, and control units. This required a robust and resilient network architecture capable of handling high device density without performance degradation.
Scalability for Future Growth
With continuous expansion and rising visitor numbers, the solution needed to be highly scalable, allowing for future bandwidth and device growth without requiring major infrastructure changes.
Seamless Wi-Fi Roaming
Reliable, uninterrupted Wi-Fi connectivity was essential to support technicians and operational staff moving throughout the park, ensuring efficient monitoring, maintenance, and control of AV systems.
NETGEAR Solution
Wireless Infrastructure
Access Points: WAX610 and WBE710
Deployment:
20 × WAX610
5 × WBE710
These access points were strategically placed to provide reliable indoor wireless coverage and seamless roaming, all centrally managed via the NETGEAR Insight Cloud portal.
Core & Distribution Switching
M4350 Series (Core): 2 × XSM4328FV
Distribution Layer:
1 × XSM4328FV
1 × XSM4216F
This design enabled a resilient, high-availability architecture with full 10G connectivity between the core and distribution layers.
Access Switching
M4250 Series:
35 × GSM4212UX (8-port)
8 × GSM4230PX (24-port)
The access layer was designed to provide flexible connectivity across the venue while ensuring 10G uplink readiness for future expansion.

Key Results
10G High-Availability Backbone
The entire core-to-distribution network operates on a fully redundant 10G backbone, delivering high availability and performance. All access switches include 10G uplink ports, ensuring future bandwidth expansion without the need for hardware replacement.
Seamless and Reliable Connectivity
Optimized access point placement delivers stable, uninterrupted Wi-Fi coverage across operational areas, supporting technicians and AV control systems throughout the park.
Optimized AV Performance
The NETGEAR solution enabled complete AV deployment across Global Village, ensuring that all background music (BGM) systems are fully interconnected and operating with consistent, high-quality performance.
Customer Testimonial
“With Global Village’s scale and seasonal footfall, network performance and reliability were critical. NETGEAR helped us design and deploy a 10G backbone that not only met current AV and connectivity demands but is also ready for future expansion. The seamless Wi-Fi coverage and stable switching infrastructure have significantly improved operational efficiency across the park. This project clearly demonstrates the strength and scalability of NETGEAR solutions in large, high-density environments.”
