SEAMLESS AV OVER IP: NETGEAR'S M4250 AV LINE

NETGEAR AV’s collaboration with MMG Events showcases how purpose-built networking gear can revolutionize global event production. At the center of this collaboration is the NETGEAR M4250 AV Line of managed switches. Designed specifically for AV over IP, these switches offer essential features such as pre-configured profiles for Dante, NDI, AES67, Q-SYS, and AVB. With NETGEAR’s IGMP Plus™ for instant multicast configuration, rear-facing ports for cleaner rack installations, and a quiet, fanless design, the M4250 is perfectly suited for both mobile and fixed event environments.

MMG EVENTS: A MASTERCLASS IN HYBRID BROADCASTING

MMG Events raised the bar by delivering a four-day global festival that spanned 26 countries and involved over 60,000 participants. The production relied on over 200 NDI video signals, all centrally routed and monitored to ensure quality and performance. Their infrastructure included triple redundancy across power, internet, and streaming protocols (including SRT, RTMP, and Microsoft Teams), providing nearly 100% uptime. Out of 150 sessions, only two experienced minor delays—both resolved in under a minute.

AXIS THE CENTRAL ENGINE

The Axis platform played a critical role in this event’s success. As a powerful AV signal converter and hub, Axis allowed MMG to scale their workflows with ease. It enabled massive I/O expansion and seamless protocol conversion, while natively integrating with vMix for content production. According to MMG’s team, Axis offered ‘complete freedom with signal conversion, mega loads of outputs, and vMix running on it.’ Its performance in the field helped make Axis the cornerstone of a high-performance, low-latency, scalable AV backbone.

WHY THIS COLLABORATION MATTERS

This partnership exemplifies what’s possible when AV tools are purpose-built and tightly integrated. By using NETGEAR’s M4250 switches and the Axis platform, MMG was able to:
• Rapidly deploy a complex AV network across continents
• Handle over 200 NDI signals with ease
• Minimize risk through robust redundancy
• Deliver a smooth, high-quality experience to tens of thousands of global participants

As MMG CEO Ryan Majchrowski said, ‘Live only happens once—redundancy is key.’

With Axis, NDI and NETGEAR, MMG proved that even the most demanding events can be flawlessly executed.

This collaboration sets a new benchmark for hybrid and virtual events. It’s a case study in how the right network infrastructure and AV platforms can empower creative professionals to push boundaries without sacrificing reliability or performance.
