EPISODE TWO

In Episode 2, they describe the design choices in one of the largest AV-over-IP installations in the world, with 1,300+ endpoints in one network. This project won the Innovation Award 2025 for Venues and Event spaces at ISE 2025.

In September 2022, the NBC Conference Center in Nieuwegein, The Netherlands was hit by a devastating fire. After the fire, NBC and AVEX joined forces to not only rebuild the conference center, but also transform it into a state-of-the-art event venue with the help of AV technology.

NBC CONFERENCE CENTER

One of the most striking features of the renewed NBC is the largest 3D projection set in the Netherlands, which covers a stage of more than 45 meters wide. In addition, the project also included the development and implementation of an advanced AV over IP system designed in-house by AVEX, which enables a network of AV connections throughout the building. This system provides NBC with unparalleled flexibility and control, as each network port becomes a potential AV connection. From a central Master Control room, NBC’s AV team can easily manage the audiovisual equipment in the hospitality area, the 22 sub-rooms and two large event halls, including content management, such as presentations, digital signage and customer branding. These innovations have not only significantly improved NBC’s operational efficiency, but also taken the user experience for both guests and employees to the next level.

NETGEAR AV

The entire installation runs on a NETGEAR AV network with a core of 2 M4500 switches, across a 800gbe MLAG interconnect, and 35 GSM4248UX switches with 40 PoE++ ports each, for a maximum total of 1,400 possible end point connections.
