That’s the challenge the Houston Museum of Natural Science’s Energy City exhibit faced. After eight years of continuous operation, the mission-critical networking infrastructure in Energy City needed a complete refresh without compromising reliability.
“This system needs to run more than 65 hours per week for at least 10 years, with minimal upkeep,” explains Cory Froke, Chief Ninjaneer and system integration specialist at Supertech Industries. “When you have hundreds of thousands of visitors depending on the experience working flawlessly, you can’t have network failures.”
The solution? NETGEAR AV switches, pre-configured with the revolutionary Engage 2.0 platform.
“I built the whole network from my living room. Port roles, VLANs, WiFi, even security rules,” Froke reveals. “When we got to site, we dropped the hardware in the rack, powered it up, and it just worked.”
This deployment eliminated the traditional pain points that plague complex AV installations:
“This is something no one ever says about setting up a network, but this was actually an enjoyable experience,” notes Froke.
