Tri Band & Quad Band Routers

NETGEAR’s Tri-band and exclusive Quad-band mesh routers unlock the fastest speeds, provide the lowest latency, highest quality, and overall best WiFi available today.

MORE BANDS, MORE POWER

Today’s connected devices need WiFi bandwidth like never before. Most WiFi mesh systems have two bands— 2.4GHz and 5GHz—to deliver a wireless connection to all your devices. They use these same bands to communicate between router and satellites, taking up critical bandwidth and slowing down connectivity to your devices.

DEDICATED CONNECTION

NETGEAR’s mesh systems take it a step further. A second 5GHz band facilitates an exclusive connection between router and satellites, powering performance throughout the home without ever impacting the bandwidth to your devices. Tri-band mesh technology keeps all your devices connected with flawless performance.

Tri-Band and Quad-Band FAQs

  • What is a Tri-Band Router?

A tri-band router is a type of WiFi router that features one 2.4 GHz band and two 5 GHz bands (unlike dual-band devices which feature one 2.4 GHz band and only one 5 GHz band). This extra band increases the available WiFi bandwidth for your network, allowing for faster WiFi performance that doesn't degrade across the house. NETGEAR offers a wide range of tri-band routers such as the Nighthawk® Tri-Band WiFi 6E Router and Mesh WiFi Systems such as the Orbi Tri-band Mesh WiFi 6 System.

  • What is a Quad-Band Router?

A Quad-band router is a type of WiFi router that features four separate radio bands: a 2.4 GHz band, a 5 GHz band, a 6 GHz band, and an additional 5 GHz band backhaul. NETGEAR offers the first ever Quad-band mesh system in the Orbi RBKE963 Quad-band WiFi 6E Mesh System which provides exceptional speed and performance.

  • Tri Band vs Quad Band Router - What is The Difference?

Tri-band WiFi Systems offer three separate radio bands (one 2.4 GHz band and two 5 GHz bands). The 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands are used to connect the home devices, while the 5 GHz backhaul is used for the router-satellite communication. The Quad-band WiFi Systems offer an additional 6 GHz band, allowing for faster, top notch performance. NETGEAR offers both Tri-Band systems such as the Orbi RBK853 as well as premium Quad-Band systems such as the Orbi RBKE963.
