NETGEAR recognizes the explosion of video over Ethernet and has specifically designed products for AV over IP installations.

From NETGEAR IGMP Plus, which allows out-of-the-box functionality for most all multicast installations, to modular switches accommodating copper, fiber, and HDMI inputs, we will work with you to find the right solution at the right price.

As video transitions to running over an IP network versus direct cabling or even HDBaseT, there are many things to consider. NETGEAR understands how to configure your switch to ensure flawless video over IP (including audio and control).

Applications for using video over IP run the gamut from corporate infrastructure and higher education to digital signage and surveillance. All of these markets benefit from the flexibility, expandability, and reliability of using the IP network as the primary transmission method.

NETGEAR IGMP Plus

Multicast video requires special configuration to ensure the video traffic gets to where it needs to go, without any hiccups and is not flooding the network. The protocol used for video multicasting is called Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP). IGMP contains a number of functions including snooping and querying that allow a multicast video signal to make its way to the intended receiver(s).

All of NETGEAR's AV over IP switches contain NETGEAR IGMP Plus which configures all the IGMP settings with a single command! Other switch vendors require up to 14 individual commands to achieve the same configuration. Their complicated setup could result in user error and prolonged or incorrect setup requiring even more time to troubleshoot.

In addition to IGMP Plus, the NETGEAR recommended spine and leaf topology configuration ensures that multicast traffic will not flood the network.

Out-of-the-box Functionality

Even better, though, then IGMP Plus, is the out-of-the-box functionality that makes our networked AV switches even easier to setup. For most installations, you simply plug in your encoders and decoders, power everything on, and it just works. True zero touch installation
