Digital culture has advanced rapidly since Tim Berners-Lee’s proposal for the modern-day Internet in 1989. Many famous files–from AOL CD-ROMs and Under Construction gifs to Edward Snowden’s NSA data leaks and the Bitcoin whitepaper–have altered the course of history and culture. Enter The Machine 3.0: Famous Files, by artist Eric Corriel, celebrates this history by algorithmically generating file portraits in their honor.
