NETGEAR Leads in Network-Attached Storage
Leading analyst firm’s report for 2010 reflects continued advances in global market share
SAN JOSE, Calif. – May 4, 2011 — NETGEAR®, Inc. (NASDAQGM: NTGR), a global networking company that delivers innovative products to consumers, businesses and service providers, today announced that Gartner, Inc., has ranked NETGEAR number one in global vendor revenue share during 2010 for NAS/unified storage systems priced under $5,000, number four for those systems under $25,000, and number eight for NAS/unified storage systems overall.
Gartner, the world's leading information technology research and advisory company, recently published their Market Share: Network-Attached Storage/Unified Storage Worldwide 2010 report. In 2010, NETGEAR took the lead in the $0 to $5,000 market segment, advanced two positions in the low-end (under $25,000) segment and moved up two positions in the total market. This report reflects NETGEAR's leadership in this global storage market, ranking it squarely in the company of the largest storage vendors.
"Worldwide vendor revenue for the low-end network-attached storage and unified storage market increased 18.4% in 2010 compared with 2009 to over $1.2 billion. The estimated low-end iSCSI SAN portion of the unified storage market grew 60% to $113 million," said Pushan Rinnen, Research Director in the Data Systems Group at Gartner and author of the report on NAS and unified storage market share. "The estimated pure NAS market grew 37.4% to $3.7 billion."
"As a growing financial institution we must deliver top-notch secure service to our customers with a fraction of the resources of our larger competitors," said Joshua Garcia, IT Manager for CheckSpring Bank, an innovative community bank developing groundbreaking services for under-banked New Yorkers. "NETGEAR's smart approach to IT contrasted strongly with our legacy storage vendor's proposal. We built a virtual infrastructure without sacrificing quality or hiring new staff, and paid half the price with added functionality. Big IT just isn't the answer for companies like ours."
"Global small to mid-sized customers are reducing costs by examining alternatives to traditional enterprise IT vendors. The economic recovery demands smart IT solutions that are reliable, affordable and simple," said Mark Song, Senior Product Line Manager at NETGEAR. "The cost and complexity promoted by large enterprise storage vendors is growing steadily less relevant to the mid-sized customers, and we are very pleased to have Gartner confirm our advances in the storage market."
