Environmental, Social, and Governance
At NETGEAR, we strive to build a culture of trust and integrity. As an industry leader, this commitment to being a Trusted Brand permeates every facet of our operations, internally and externally, from data handling to supply chain management. NETGEAR’s 2023 Environmental, Social and Governance Report highlights achievements and objectives across our key priorities, including product security, data privacy, product design & manufacturing supply chain management, employee engagement & diversity and inclusion, professional integrity and environment.
NETGEAR is deeply committed to designing high-quality products that are environmentally sound, and conducting our global operations in a responsible manner. As stewards of the environment, we consider and plan for the recycling, reuse, or reclamation of our products and packaging. NETGEAR continues to work proactively to reduce or eliminate hazardous materials in our products, helping to protect the health and safety of our employees, our customers, our manufacturing partners, the environment, and our communities. These commitments continue to be a driving force at NETGEAR and reflect principles deeply ingrained in our values.
Compliance with regulatory standards and policies is always a priority at NETGEAR. Every NETGEAR product goes through rigorous testing and certification processes in every aspect of regulatory compliance, including but not limited to electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC), safety, wireless, and telecom. NETGEAR follows applicable laws, directives, standards, and industry regulations. Products are accordingly marked and in compliance with, but not limited to, Federal Communication Commission (FCC) standards, European Union Directives (CE Mark), Japan’s VCCI, Australia’s RCM and other international requirements. Certificates, test reports and declarations of conformity are recorded and are available upon request.
NETGEAR is deeply concerned that conflict minerals originating from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or adjoining countries are sometimes mined and sold by armed groups to finance extreme levels of violence. These minerals can make their way into the supply chains of the products used around the world, including those in the electronics industry. It is NETGEAR’s goal to use tantalum, tin, tungsten, and gold (3TG) in our products that do not directly or indirectly finance or benefit armed groups in the DRC or adjoining countries while continuing to support responsible mineral sourcing in the region.
NETGEAR is an active participant in, and signatory to, the Voluntary Agreement for ongoing improvement to the Energy Efficiency of Small Network Equipment (SNE). We are committed to designing energy-efficient products that reduce carbon emission footprint and promote product flexibility and innovation. We fully support this award-winning program heralded by the U.S. Department of Energy and published our report annually to demonstrate our compliance to the Voluntary Agreement.
In 2014, NETGEAR published our first sustainability report, which encompasses our annual performance, greenhouse gas emissions, and reduction projects. This document, released annually, represents NETGEAR’s commitment to all stakeholders. NETGEAR continues to improve its sustainability program since its inception in 2013 with a goal to reduce energy, water use and waste throughout our supply chain.

Every day, millions of people around the world rely on NETGEAR products. We take our responsibility to our customers, our employees, and our partners seriously. We define corporate responsibility as a promise to conduct business with the highest regard for the lives of our stakeholders and the greater global community. We constantly monitor and improve our practices and their impacts to ensure that we only yield a positive effect on the world around us. We recognize the ways in which global, social, and environmental factors are pushing businesses to re-examine and reinvent the ways we work. NETGEAR continues to grow and evolve our business practices for the better, committing ourselves to leading the industry in responsible human rights, community, environmental, and governance practice.
Labor with Dignity
NETGEAR promotes equitable, humane treatment within our business and that of our partners. We work with our employees and suppliers closely to resolve any concerns regarding recruitment, working hours, compensation, discrimination, and freedom of association, hence ensuring a respectful working environment internally and externally. Additionally, NETGEAR maintains a zero-tolerance policy for forced labor and human trafficking. In an effort to support the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 (SB657), the UK Modern Slavery Act of 2015, and to confront slavery, NETGEAR is assessing risk related to our supply chain and our direct commercial suppliers and is evaluating suppliers’ compliance with the NETGEAR Supplier Code of Conduct via periodic audits.
Health and Safety
The health and safety of our employees are critical to our success and thus one of our top priorities. NETGEAR frequently monitors workplace cleanliness and safety in an effort to promote hygiene and minimize injuries. Our Corporate Emergency Response Team and Business Continuity Program equip employees with essential knowledge and supplies in case of emergencies. We periodically examine various Health and Safety aspects such as safe and clean workplaces, emergency preparedness, injury and illness, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, machine safeguarding, and more. We are also dedicated to maintaining updated safety guidelines for all of our products. Health and safety are covered under our Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) guided audit program and corporate facilities.
Without an effective and efficient management system, we would not be able to optimize the value of the Corporate Social Responsibility Program and fulfill our responsibility as a loyal global citizen. Mirroring the RBA Code of Conduct, our guided audit program includes regular reviews of management systems in Ethics, Labor and Environment, and Health & Safety to help establish an organized framework for identifying, evaluating and remediating issues as they arise.
Additionally, NETGEAR and its manufacturing partners are committed to meeting or exceeding all ISO Standards. All NETGEAR manufacturing partners are ISO9001 and/or ISO14001 certified.
Management Systems are covered under our RBA guided audit program.
Diversity and Inclusion
We believe that our employee population should reflect the communities where we live and serve. We are committed to promoting and cultivating an inclusive and diverse culture that welcomes and celebrates everyone without bias. NETGEAR seeks to foster a diverse working environment, representing a broad spectrum of backgrounds and cultures that promotes innovative ideas and products. We recognize that it takes true diversity and inclusion to unleash the power of each of our employees’ fullest potential. We file the Employment Information Report (EEO-1) annually which provides a demographic breakdown of our workforce by race and gender.
Data Privacy and Cybersecurity
At NETGEAR, we are dedicated to the privacy of your data. We aim to be fully transparent in the collection, sharing, and usage of any personal data. We only use your personal information for legitimate business purposes, such as improving our products and services, analyzing internal data, and preventing fraud. Your information is important, and you can trust us with your data.
As technology grows more advanced so, too, do cybersecurity threats. Our dedication to robust corporate cybersecurity is upheld by our cross-functional cybersecurity team, data protection controls, vulnerability management processes, and incident response procedures. At NETGEAR, our products are backed by trusted internal operations, reinforcing reliable cybersecurity systems throughout our business.
NETGEAR’s mission is to be the innovative leader in connecting the world to the internet. To achieve this mission, we strive to earn and maintain the trust of our customers by delivering products that are more secure and better protect the privacy and security of our customers’ data. We are committed to embedding reliable product security principles within our operations to safeguard your privacy.
NETGEAR’s business operations are founded on a strong sense of professional integrity. Our dedication to ‘doing the right thing’ is consistent with our history and where we want to go in the future. We foster an honest and ethical working environment through our governance structure, regulatory compliance policies, and ethical codes of conduct. Although policies are important, it is how we act on them that truly matters. It is our intention that all employees understand how to do their jobs properly within applicable legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. At NETGEAR, we actively work to maintain and improve a culture of professional integrity through everything we do.
As a member of the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), formerly known as Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC), NETGEAR fully supports its vision and goals. We endorse the RBA Code of Conduct and incorporate RBA standards into the NETGEAR Corporate Supplier Code of Conduct. Our corporate social responsibility program includes various initiatives and monitoring activities that reinforce our commitment as a responsible global citizen. NETGEAR conducts regular risk assessments and audits on significant third-party manufacturing locations at least once a year, which we target to cover no less than 80% of our total production. Results from audits are shared with suppliers, and supplier corrective action requests, if needed, are subsequently monitored during Quarterly Business Reviews, led by the Operations Department.
