Software Engineer
Position: Software Development Engineer
NETGEAR is seeking a creative, energetic, and skilled software engineer to design the software for our home products. The ideal candidate will be highly committed to creative software design with input from typical end users. This role will work with our interaction designers to make design new features and improve existing ones to improve the usability of our products.
Job Responsibilities
- Work with a cross-functional team to understand technical requirements and convert that into detailed product design and specifications.
- Clearly document the product architecture so that ODM partners and other third parties can implement the design.
- Take leadership role to insure project goals of improved usability and schedule are met
- Work with usability design team to transform design concepts into actual implementation on embedded home products
- Drive software projects from conceptual design, prototyping to final delivery. Provide training and support to ODMs and other engineers at the conclusion of the project
- Some international travel is required
Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum 7 years experience in software development in both embedded systems, and PC applications environment
- Experience in C, C++, XML, HTML languages
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts is a must
- Solid understanding of inf file, Microsoft Windows Registry, and InstallShield
- Prior device driver development experience is a plus
- Experience in wireless networking software highly desired
- Effective leadership, organization and project management skills. Experience in managing outsourced projects highly desired.
- Fast learner, good troubleshooting skills, willingness to take ownership of project and ability to get the job done with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
