Position: Senior Product Design Engineer (mechanical engineer)

As a member of the Product Design team, you will be a team leader responsible for the design, testing, performance, documentation and production of networking hardware targeted to the residential and small business markets.  These products are high-volume and all manufacturing is done in Asia.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, evaluation, testing, performance and documentation of products
• Work closely with Product Design team, Product Marketing, outside consultants and ODM partners to design new products or customization of existing products
• Take leadership role to insure project goals of performance, cost and schedule are met
• Work closely with 2nd and 3rd tier suppliers
• Manage outside consultants and fabrication vendors
• Some international travel is required

Skills and Requirements

• BSME or equivalent experience
• Minimum 7 years experience in the fields of Product Design and/or mechanical engineering in computer hardware or a similar consumer-oriented field
• Experience in designing effective & efficient cooling systems for high-power enclosures
• In-depth knowledge of Pro/ENGINEER software - demonstrable skills in creating complex models, assemblies and drawings
• Demonstrable experience using CFD design s/w for thermal simulation is a plus
• Superior expertise in plastic injection molding and progressive-die sheet metal part design
• Extensive design experience with high-volume, low-cost products
• Skilled in the areas of data collection, data logging, thermal profiling and similar test equipment
• Effective leadership, organization and project management skills
• Proven ability and willingness to take ownership of project; ability to get the job done with minimal supervision
• Experience in successfully leading projects through to pilot, mass production and beyond
• Proven ability to track and resolve issues
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience working in a start-up environment
• Self-starter that works well on a team
• Fluency in Mandarin is a plus
